Resumen
The objectives of this proposal are conceived equally for the five species (five genera): (1) to find out whether the hypothesis of living fossils related to ancient lineages is correct by performing phylogenetic analysis of families and tribes in which Avellara, Castrilanthemum, Gyrocaryum, Naufraga, Pseudomisopates are circumscribed; (2) to assess levels of genetic diversity of endangered populations; (3) to monitor population dynamics over three years to identify critical life history stages; (4) to test the hypothesis of pollen and seed limitation by analysing interactions and breeding systems of the species; (5) to estimate future fluctuations of the populations by modeling all factors related to global-climate-change predictions; (6) to disseminate general results to general public and to develop documents for environmental education; (7) to propose recommendations to the authorities in order to prevent these five genera from extinction, which are the most important species of flowering plants for conservation in Iberia and Balearic Islands.
