Resumen
The goal of our work would be to establish if and in what numbers Black-tailed godwits winter in Doñana. The satellite tagging in 2009 has learnt us that BTG do winter in S-Iberia but we have no clue to what extent. Counts in November 2009 in Doñana showed that up to at least 10.000 BTG might be present but that will be a mix of islandica and limosa birds. Since quite a lot of birds from both subspecies have been colour ringed in the last decade, it should be possible to answer this question by ring reading. We have gained a lot experience through similar yearly expeditions to Iberia in the past five years and are familiar now with all different schemes that exist nowadays for this species. I think it would be best to plan a 10-day visit with 2 persons around half November. At that time you can be pretty sure that all birds that intend to go to Africa are gone and no birds coming back from there have already arrived.
