Resumen
The main goal is to describe the structure and relative composition of the trophic web in the different marsh ecosystems.
A first quantitative description will focus on the biomass allocated to each of the different compartments. This part of the research will aim to quantify the role of the submerged plants and periphyton in determining the secondary production of the marsh.
We will then focus on the relative composition of the different compartments. By this we will try to assess the influence of the different macrophyte communities on the diversity and stability of the natural communities.
The effect of the most influencial environmental variables (salinity, depth and water turbidity) on the structure of the trophic web will be discriminated by comparison of a wide range of different sampling localities. Preliminary assessment of the effect of carp and crayfish will also be obtained by sampling in localities differing in population density of these two species. Repetition of the sampling program in 1995 and 1996 will alow us to account for interannual variability
